To identify the Best Colleges in Michigan for 2019 we averaged the results from the most respected college ranking systems (Niche.com + US News & World Report) from around the web to produce an entirely unique CollegeReviews Score for each school. And then ordered the schools based on that ranking. You won’t find a more exhaustive ranking of the best colleges and universities in Michigan anywhere.
Michigan is home to more than 200 public and private colleges and universities, community colleges and career colleges. It’s the only state with two peninsulas and while the Lower Peninsula boasts most of the colleges in Michigan, some top schools are located in the Upper Peninsula such as Northern Michigan University, Michigan Technological University and Lake Superior State University.
Michigan State University and the University of Michigan, Flint are two of the biggest public universities in the state and also two of the top ranked schools. Many Michigan colleges are found in and around Detroit including Wayne State University and University of Detroit Mercy. Grand Rapids, the state’s capital Lansing, Saginaw and Kalamazoo are other major cities with post secondary education options including a range of community colleges and career colleges.
Notable 2-year schools include Lansing Community College and Alpena Community College. Because Michigan is home to a very religious population, you’ll also find many religiously affiliated private schools throughout the state.
