To identify the Best Colleges in Minnesota for 2019 we averaged the results from the most respected college ranking systems (Niche.com + US News & World Report) from around the web to produce an entirely unique CollegeReviews Score for each school. And then ordered the schools based on that ranking. You won’t find a more exhaustive ranking of the best colleges and universities in Minnesota anywhere.
Minnesota has more than 150 colleges, universities and technical schools make up the selection of post secondary education options in Minnesota. Much of the state’s population is located in Minneapolis and much of the state’s schools are located there.
Duluth, Saint Cloud and Rochester, which are all outside of the Twin Cities, also have significant populations and selections of schools. Many of the public colleges in Minnesota are part of the 32-institutions strong Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, including Winona State University, Saint Cloud State University and Minnesota State University, Moorhead.
Several community colleges are part of the system as well: Normandale Community College, Century College, Saint Paul and others. Many Minnesota colleges, both public and private, have excellent reputations earning spots on lists of best colleges including the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and liberal art schools Carleton College and Macalester College.

Our methodology for determining the best colleges in Minnesota takes both editorial rankings from US News & World Report, Times Higher Education and combines it with student rankings from Niche.com. We weight student rankings higher giving them about a 80% weighted score vs editorial rankings. Thus creating a more accurate viewpoint of the best colleges in any given state.
